Hexagonal spacers and standoffs are a cost-effective and efficient way to provide support, positioning and spacing to PC circuit board assemblies, panels and doors. The use of spacers in motherboard mounts allows the components of each assembly to be adequately positioned and to create space between them, avoiding a short circuit and making devices safer.
Many computer assemblies use a metal hexagonal threaded spacer as they can be used in high temperature environments, which is important as the circuit board may get hot during operation. Another advantage is that they will also allow a circuit to be maintained. Common materials for hex spacers include mild steel, stainless steel and nickel-plated brass.
