Gib Head Keys are available in metric and inch sizes. Metric sizes are made to DIN 6887 / ISO 2492 and inch sizes are made to BS 46 Part 1. Our machine keys are manufactured in key steel with a minimum tensile strength of 60KG/mm², and are in stock. Gib head keys have a head at the larger end of the key which serves as a stop mechanism on a rotating shaft.  The head also makes for easier removal during disassembly and the key has a 1:100 taper to firmly engage the shaft to the hub. Machine keys such as the gib head key is mainly used in areas where frequent removal of the key is necessary.
